Frankland Estate - ‘Isolation Ridge’ Chardonnay

Een loepzuivere ’fruit driven’ Chardonnay uit de westkust van Australië. De naam van deze cuvée 'Isolation Ridge' verwijst naar de afgelegen wijngaard waar het fruit vandaan komt. De laatste jaren heeft 'Frankland Estate' de focus verlegd op 'fris fruit'-intensiteit en minder eikinvloed en dit geeft duidelijk een schitterend resultaat: mediumgevuld licht geel, fris elegant fruit en een vleugje boter. Een elegante en frisse Chardonnay die, indien hij van Bourgogne (stijl Puligny-Montrachet) zou komen, minimaal dubbel zo duur zou zijn.Frankland Estate Chardonnay is renowned for its millerandage or ‘hen and chicken’ combination of large and small berries in the same bunch. This results in low yields, especially where the proportion of small berries is high and, typically, produces highly concentrated flavours.100% organically grown chardonnay from the Isolation Ridge vineyard. Lifted blossom florals and white stone fruit. Lovely mineraltiy. The palate has lovely generosity on the front palate, well integrated oak that leads into an elegant soft and focused palate. There is a complex textured component which plays beautifully with the acid to create a delightful and charming chardonnay. A wet spring provided good early vine growth followed by a significant rain event in January which resulted in lower TA and higher pH. Harvested in the last few days of February, fruit was in clean and ideal condition.
